bright eyes
So, winter is well and truly upon us and we’re all already dreaming of sunshine. But it doesn’t mean you have to succumb to those seasonal blues. Bright colours are usually associated with summer but why wait six months? Forget all the traditional notions of smoky eyes and maybe the odd dash of metallic and go for bold colours instead. I love Illamasqua eye-shadows for their intensity and blendability. Go for matte shadows, and if you want a touch of shimmer, apply a wash of Bobbi Brown ‘Snow’ shimmer eye-shadow on top. There are no rules: go as bold as you dare, put yellow and purple together, anything goes. All I would advise is to keep the rest of your makeup neutral, just let your eyes do the talking: as the saying goes, ‘a look says a thousand words.’ A good eye-shadow base such as Nars’ Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Primer is essential to give your colour maxim impact and staying power, and I recommend Bobbi Brown’s fantastic eye blender brush to apply and blend.
